The Thelemic Order of the Golden
Dawn is not a Path
to follow; it is rather a magical and mystical system of
initiatory grades that can assist Initiates to progressively
discover and follow their own Path or True Will from within.
The Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn is a Magical and Mystical Order with seven Grades of Initiation. These grades are linked with the seven Chakras of Yoga, the seven traditional Planets of Astrology, and the seven Metals of Alchemy. The system of the Order is also Qabalistic in nature. It is Kundalini Yoga, Mystical Alchemy, Qabalistic and Magical Initiation in one, designed as a service for the Initiate of the Great Work of Thelema. It derives its wisdom and knowledge from various Eastern and Western religious and philosophical sources. Its ceremonies have been constructed to accord with the principles of Thelema and to instruct the Initiate in the Magick of Thelema, for the realization of his/her True Will, and for the attainment of the Knowledge and Conversation of his/her Holy Guardian Angel. Its work, as a whole, can be described as Scientific Illuminism.
The initiatory system of the Order is one among many which lead to "interior illumination." The Order itself can only be found within the Heart of the Initiate through experience. It is not like a church, temple, lodge, party, or any other external, social or political institution. It is not a cult, and it is not a religion in the common sense of the word. The Order is Thelemic, that is, it is consecrated to Thelema, which is the True Will of the individual. The Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn is not a Path to follow; it is rather a magical and mystical system of initiatory grades that can assist Initiates to progressively discover and follow their own Path or True Will from within. The True Will is the most direct expression of the True Self. It is the Will of the Spirit, not the human will, which is the will of the ego or shadow self. Members of the Order dedicate themselves to discovering and doing their own True Will, and they take on the great task of becoming their our own God, their own Master, and their our own Leader in a world of senseless followers.
Every man and every woman has their own Path to follow, or a proper course in life–a True Will–just as every star has its own orbit; and the Duty of every individual is to pursue his or her own course, just as every star must move on its own orbit. "Every man and every woman is a star." (AL I:3) We are all individual Centers of the Universe, each with our own unique Path to pursue in the Cosmic Order. The central message of the Order is the Law of Thelema: "Do what thou wilt shall the whole of the Law. Love is the law, love under will." This Law comes to us from the A.·. A.·., the Inmost Order of the Universe. Thelema is the Greek word for Will. It–like Agape, the Greek word for Love–has the numerical value of 93. In the Qabalah there is a numerological system called Gematria which informs us that words with the same numerical value are descriptions of each other or they are indications of a single phenomenon. The Law of Thelema is the Law of Will and Love, but the Love of which we speak must be under Will, that is, in accordance with one's True Will. It is love magically directed and used as a Magical Formula.
The Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn, also called the New Order of the Golden Dawn (Novus Ordo Aurora Aurea), is a name, and one among many, for the New Order of the Ages on Earth. It is an Outer Order of the A.·. A.·., presided over by the Invisible Masters of the A.·. A.·., the Spiritual Illuminati. In Magical Philosophy, the real Illuminati are identified as Celestial Souls who have mastered the Planetary Initiations, who are immortalized in the Limitless Light, and who constitute the Great Oversoul of our Solar System. They are a Spiritual Order of Illuminated Souls, an Invisible Circle of Enlightened Spirits or, in the language of the Golden Dawn, they are the Secret Chiefs. They may incarnate in physical form at Will, or they may remain in the Invisible to secretly direct and oversee human affairs. Their special symbol in the world is the Eye in the Triangle, the Sacred Eye of Freemasonry, and the Eye of Horus in Egyptian Magick. It is the Interior Eye of the Silent Watchers of humanity who mysteriously direct the universal karma and destiny of mankind. These Silent Watchers, or the Illuminati, influence us all, either directly or indirectly, through their incarnations and representatives on Earth, to bring us all to the Eternal Wisdom, Splendor and Joy of our Yechidah (True Self). They work through our nervous system, and they may be contacted by the proper manipulation of our nervous system through such practices like Magick, Yoga, Tantra, Alchemy, Qabalah, and so on. The nervous system itself contains the Arcanum Arcanorum, the Secret of Secrets, or the Great Secret of the Illuminati.
The God symbolic of the Illuminati, or the Third Order of the Silver Star (A.·. A.·.), is the Egyptian God Horus, particularly in his Child aspect or form as Hoor-Pa-Kraat (Hoor-Paar-Kraat), who is Harpocrates in Greek mythology. Hoor-Pa-Kraat represents the forces ruling this Earth at present. Aleister Crowley's Holy Guardian Angel, Aiwass, who dictated the Book of the Law (Liber Legis) in 1904 e.v., claimed to be the minister of Hoor-Paar-Kraat. Crowley came to identify Aiwass as one of the Secret Chiefs of the Third Order of the A.·. A.·., which is the real and eternal Order of the Illuminati. Hoor-Pa-Kraat is the Lord of Silence, the Innocent Babe in the Egg of Blue, or the Crowned Child upon the Lotus, and He is a universal symbol of the Holy Guardian Angel. Hoor-Pa-Kraat when manifested appears in the active form of his twin Ra-Hoor-Khuit. Hoor-Pa-Kraat represents the True Self of every man and every woman, whereas Ra-Hoor-Khuit represents that True Self in Action. Hoor-Pa-Kraat symbolizes the Secret Self of every man and every woman, that is, their Silent Self within. To truly understand this Silent Self is the Universal Key to every mystery of Magick and Mysticism. He is the Silent Watcher within, our Eternal Self, beyond our mental and physical apparatus. Everyone, in their inmost Self, is Hoor-Pa-Kraat; and everyone, by virtue of this sublime fact, is a member of the Illuminati, or the Universal Order within. Hoor-Pa-Kraat is Universal in nature; He represents the God within All, our True Self beyond the temporal and illusive veils of personality. The Great Work (Magnum Opus) on planet Earth is to become Enlightened to our True Self by way of our True Will (the True Will is the True Self in action) and to help All accomplish this Great Work of initiation and illumination.
"Now initiation is,
by etymology, the journeying inwards; it is the Voyage
of Discovery (oh Wonder-World!) of one's own Soul." –Aleister Crowley
Initiation is an Inner Journey that leads to Illumination. It is to become Enlightened to our True Self by way of our True Will. Of this there are various degrees or steps of knowledge and experience, but there are two that are most critical. The first is the attainment of the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel. The second is to Cross the Abyss and become a Master of the Temple. The latter is experienced after the annihilation of the ego upon crossing of the Abyss which lies between Manhood and Godhead; or, more properly, it is the annihilation of the Soul's identification with the illusion of the ego. "The Aspirant must well understand that it is no paradox to say that the Annihilation of the Ego in the Abyss is the condition of emancipating the True Self, and exalting it to unimaginable heights." (Aleister Crowley) Ultimately, Enlightenment is when there is no ego, or personal self, only the True Self, which is universal and impersonal in nature. It is when the ego, or personality, is no longer the point of reference, but rather it becomes a tool to realize the True Self and to do its True Will. In a very practical sense, it is when you stop interpreting the Universe in terms of yourself, and rather interpret your life in terms of the Universe. It is when you take complete responsibility for your Soul and follow your own Path from within.
To follow your own Path from within requires more courage than climbing a colossal mountain, or parachuting from a plane high in the sky, or facing and fighting a ferocious lion. To follow your own Path means that you have to face, battle and conquer the greatest demon of all, and that demon is your self, your ego, your illusive I, your false identity, the shadow of your Soul. To follow your own Path means that you have to think for yourself, and the only way you can think for yourself is if you transcend yourself and live from your Soul, not from your mind. The greatest confusion is between the mind and the Soul, but when the Soul is realized and the mind is transcended, then Understanding blossoms. Feeling, rather than thinking, is more true to the Soul. But feelings, just like thoughts, are not who you really are. The Soul is pure, an incorruptible potential within you, beyond feeling and thinking, and it is the raw material and experience behind everything that is happening to you. The Soul is your Inner Self, or your True Self, the God of your life. There is no other God for you than your own Soul. Your Soul is your only God on Earth, and it is One, Eternal and Indivisible. The highest Magick Oath, the Oath that Crowns it All in the Order, is One: To recognize every phenomenon as God, that is, as my Soul. Such is the Oath of the Highest Grade in the Order pertaining to the Sephirah called Kether on the Qabalistic Tree of Life, as well as to the Chakra of Yoga called Sahasrara. It is the most simple Oath of All, and also the most difficult. It can take innumerable life times just to commence the work, let alone to execute it. Taking the Oath is not just a verbal act of the Will; it is an expression and experience of the Highest Order. It is the Inmost Work of the Spirit of All (PAN).
To believe that God is separate from you is an illusion, and illusions exist to reveal the truth, not to deceive or blind you. God is within you, and is ultimately who you really are. Not you, the illusive ego, the conscious I, but YOU, as an eternal Soul. Yes, in reality, YOU are God, but the fact is you have been hiding in plain sight from Yourself, playing hide and seek with something that cannot be hidden except through your own ignorance. The God to which we are referring is your True Self, your Silent Self, symbolized in the Order by the Egyptian God Hoor-Pa-Kraat. This God lives in your Heart of Hearts, in the Sanctuary of your Soul. It is the great Mystery of your Life. Ultimately, you are God; and if you will just get honest with yourself, and put aside the illusion of separateness, you will realize and accept that there is no other God that you must answer to; and your body, with its functioning brain and mind, is an extension of your God, that is your Soul. Nothing is more important in life than for us to know our own immortal Soul and to follow its chosen Path from within. Thus it is called The Great Work and The Path of the Wise. This God within you is neither male nor female. It is rather the source and unity of all Opposites. It is the Spirit of the Tao within you, the source and the balanced interplay of the Yin and Yang, the Feminine and Masculine Forces of Nature. Thus this God is also symbolized in the Order by BAPHOMET.
The Soul is the Great Mystery underlying and tying together all spiritual, religious and psychological systems of illumination. The first lesson and requirement for true spiritual living is to recognize the fact that you are a Spiritual Soul, an Eternal Self who has incarnated on Earth to realize itself. Without the body and mind, you cannot know or experience your Soul, nor can you know the Path it has mapped out for itself. The body and mind are necessary instruments to this Great Work. When you go to a church or temple in the external world to worship God, you go with your body and mind, and that is where your true religious or spiritual feelings come from, not from any symbolic crosses, wafers, statues, priests, or sermons. These things can help to trigger certain feelings from within you, but that is the extent of their power. You are the only one who gives power to any of these things. In fact, it all comes from within you. You do not need to go to a church, temple, or any other external place of worship to experience and know God. To believe otherwise is simply ignorant. Your body with its nervous system is where God lives, moves, and has its Being, and you can begin to experience and know God anywhere, in any place, and at any time, once you understand that your very Soul is God within you. That is, your Supernal Soul represented by the Supernal Triad on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Such is the Sanctum Sanctorum, the Holy of Holies, wherein is the Arcanum Arcanorum, the Secret of Secrets, which we discover through the Great Work of Initiation, the Inner Journey that leads to Understanding, Wisdom and Illumination. The Supernal Triad contains the three highest Sephiroth on the Qabalistic Tree of Life, called Kether, Chokmah and Binah. Kether symbolizes the Yechidah (True Self), Chokmah symbolizes the Chiah (True Will), and Binah symbolizes the Neschamah (True Soul). Yechidah, Chiah and Neschamah are really One, the Soul of All.

Technically speaking, the Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn is a name for the Outer Order (First Order), but it is also used for the Order as a whole, as a matter of convenience. The Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn is, in essence, dedicated to the same Spiritual Task as any other Golden Dawn or Magical Order: To prepare the aspirant to "become more than human" or to "attain the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel." In terms of the planes of progress, the Order is threefold: the Outer Order (First Order), the Inner Order (Second Order), and the Secret Order (Third Order) in the Inmost Sanctuary of the Soul. In Truth there is only One Order, but it has three divisions, or aspects, if you Will, relative to the process of initiation. Between the First and Second Orders there is a veil, called the Veil of Paroketh; and between the Second and Third Orders there is another veil, called the Veil of the Abyss. Each one of these veils represents an ordeal between one Order to the next. The Way of Initiation is beset with ordeals no matter how we may approach the Great Work; and those who attempt to evade an ordeal are unworthy of the title "Initiate." An ordeal of initiation is meant to make, not break us. In terms of the Qabalistic Tree of Life, the Outer Order encompasses the Elemental Sephiroth of the Tree of Life, called Malkuth, Yesod, Hod and Netzach; the Inner Order encompasses the Spiritual Sephiroth called Tiphareth, Geburah and Gedulah (also called Chesed); and the Inmost or Secret Order encompasses the Supernal Sephiroth called Binah, Chokmah and Kether.
The grades of other Orders using
similar initiatory symbolism can be
linked, by Adepts, to their equivalent grades in the Order without confusing the planes. Synthesizing the Many into One is part of the plan.
But there is more than meets the eye in this regard. There are grades within grades, elements
within elements, and worlds within worlds. The connections will become crystal clear to
those of you who diligently do your research. The well-informed Initiate will be able to
easily associate and integrate other systems with the system of the Order, which is universal and
all-embracing by its very nature. It is a simple skeletonic system upon which
the Initiate can build a complex body of boundless connections and spiritual
experiences. There is no limit to the extent of its practical application in the Great Work of
Initiation, and it is for those individuals who would like to use the system as a series of
grades or stepping
stones to the sublime summit of the Mystic Mountain of Illumination. Below is a
brief summary of the magical and mystical grades of the Order. Three of the
grades listed below (Neophyte, Dominus Liminis, and Babe of the Abyss) are not
actual grades. The Neophyte is a probationary grade, the Dominus Liminis is the
passage between the First and Second Orders, and the Babe of the Abyss is the
passage between the Second and Third Orders.
Below is a brief summary of the magical and mystical grades of the Order. Three of the grades listed below (Neophyte, Dominus Liminis, and Babe of the Abyss) are not actual grades. The Neophyte is a probationary grade, the Dominus Liminis is the passage between the First and Second Orders, and the Babe of the Abyss is the passage between the Second and Third Orders.
The Neophyte is also called
a Probationer in our Order. This probationary grade (so-called) has no real correspondence with a Yogic Chakra,
Astrological Planet, Alchemical Metal or Qabalistic Sephira on the Tree of Life.
It is the spiritual stage of gestation. The word Neophyte comes to us from the Greek word
neophytos (newly planted). The Neophyte should "endure" nine months or longer of
probation after the initiation before advancing to the next grade of the Zelator. It is a time of inner trial, when the Secret
Guardians of the Mysteries test the aspirant's sincerity to perform the Great Work. The principal business of the Neophyte is to
discover his or her own True Will in the Outer World. (The Outer World is here to teach us about the Inner World of the Spirit. The
temporal or finite is intended to indicate the eternal or infinite.) The
Neophyte should also begin to obtain knowledge and control of the nature and
powers of his/her own being. S/he is further to devote him/herself to the study
and practice of such things as s/he may deem fit for the cultivation of his/her
aspirations to Thelema. But every Neophyte should acquire and begin to study Liber AL vel Legis, Sub Figura CCXX.
(Committing to memory all three chapters of this Liber is highly suggested:
Chapter I as a Neophyte, Chapter II as a Zelator, and Chapter III as the
Zelator (or Zelatrix)
is also called a Magician,
The Zelator (or Zelatrix) is also called a Magician, and this elemental grade refers to Malkuth, the tenth Sephira on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Its corresponding Yogic Chakra is Muladhara, the Lotus of Four Petals. Its corresponding Astrological Planet is Saturn, and its Alchemical Metal is Lead. It is the spiritual stage of Birth. The Zelator should wait twelve months or longer after the initiation before advancing to the next grade of the Dominus Liminis. In the Zelator grade there are concentrated the Mysteries of the Four Elements, so that the fully initiated Zelator is also called a Theoricus, Practicus, and Philosophus. In the Zelator grade the Initiate completes the preliminary course of elemental initiation as represented by the four Sephiroth called Malkuth, Yesod, Hod and Netzach, which are the Elemental Sephiroth on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. The principal business of the Zelator is to Do his or her own True Will in the Outer World, or to realize his/her True Self in Action. In other words, to put into practice the Law of Thelema, which opposes thought to Action.
The Dominus Liminis is also called an Advanced Magician. This portal grade (so-called) is a passage between the First and Second Orders, and it has no real correspondence with a Yogic Chakra, Astrological Planet, Alchemical Metal or Qabalistic Sephira on the Tree of Life. It is the spiritual stage of Puberty. The Dominus Liminis should wait twelve to twenty one months after the initiation before taking the Magical Oath of the Adeptus Minor. The so-called grade of the Dominus Liminis (Lord of the Threshold) is a Crown to the Four Elements of Fire, Water, Air and Earth, which pertain to the Grade of the Zelator. It formulates the topmost point of the Blazing Star or Pentagram, and it concerns itself with the summarization of the Elemental Mysteries of the Grade of the Zelator, equilibrating one's Elemental Self, which is to be completely surrendered to one’s Holy Guardian Angel for the attainment of the Great Work. The principal business of a member of the grade of the Dominus Liminis is to obtain control of the Aspirations of his/her own Being for the attainment of the Knowledge and Conversation of his/her Holy Guardian Angel. The Dominus Liminis should therefore endeavor to perfect him/her self in all the Rituals and Practices of the Outer Order.
The Adeptus Minor is also called the Adept Magician, and this grade refers to Tiphareth, the sixth Sephira on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Its corresponding Yogic Chakra is Anahata, the Lotus of twelve petals. Its corresponding Astrological Planet (Star, or Luminary, to be correct) is Sol , or alternatively Mercury, and its Alchemical Metal is Gold or Mercury. It is the spiritual stage of Life. The task of the Adeptus Minor is one: To attain the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel. Such is the work of the Adeptus Without, or Junior Adeptus. Once the Adeptus Minor attains the Knowledge and Conversation of his/her Holy Guardian Angel, s/he then becomes an actual member of the Inner Order of the Rosy Cross, a Winner of the Ordeal X, an Adeptus Within, or Senior Adeptus.
The Adeptus Major is also called the Master Magician, and this grade refers to Geburah, the fifth Sephira on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Its corresponding Yogic Chakra is Swadhisthana, the Lotus of six petals. Its corresponding Astrological Planet is Mars, and its Alchemical Metal is Iron. It is the spiritual stage of Death. The task of the Adeptus Major is to attain the Power to Combat to do the True Will of his/her Angel, and nothing else. In this regard, the Adeptus Major should obtain a general mastery of Magick, both the ceremonial and sexual type (the secret of the Sanctuary of the Gnosis).
The Adeptus Exemptus is also called a Perfected Magician, and this grade refers to Chesed, the fourth Sephira on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Its corresponding Yogic Chakra is Manipura, the Lotus of ten petals. Its corresponding Astrological Planet is Jupiter, and its Alchemical Metal is Tin. It is the spiritual stage of Life after Death. The task of the Adeptus Exemptus is to attain the Power to Love, and to perfect him/herself in All Things, inevitably confronting the critical decision to cross the Abyss.
The Babe of the Abyss is a passage between the Second and Third Orders, and it has no real correspondence with a Yogic Chakra, Astrological Planet, Alchemical Metal or Qabalistic Sephira on the Tree of Life. It can be linked with Daäth, the Inivisible Sephira on the Qabalistic Tree of Life, but Daäth is not really a Sephira. Daäth is Knowledge, the Crown of the Ruach (Reason). Those who swear the irrevocable Oath of the Abyss, and successfully cross the Abyss to become Nemo (No Man) in the City of the Pyramids under the Night of Pan, transcend the Ruach (Reason) and attain the experience of Neschamah, the Spiritual Intelligence.
The Magister Templi (or Magistra Templi) grade refers to Binah, the third Sephira on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Its corresponding Yogic Chakra is Vishuddha, the Lotus of sixteen petals. Its corresponding Astrological Planet is Venus, and its Alchemical Metal is Copper or Brass. This grade corresponds to the Nechamah (Soul, Intelligence, or Intuition) of the Qabalah. The Magister Templi is obligated to interpret every phenomenon as a particular dealing of God with his/her Soul. The Master of the Temple is a Master of Mysticism, who is to obtain a perfect Understanding of the Universe. S/He is to comprehend the existing Universe in accordance with His/Her own Soul.
The Magus grade refers to Chokmah, the second Sephira on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Its corresponding Yogic Chakra is Ajna, the Lotus of two petals. Its corresponding Astrological Planet (Satellite, or Luminary, to be correct) is Luna, and its Alchemical Metal is Silver. This grade corresponds to the Chiah (True Will) of the Qabalah. The Magus is obligated to make His/Her every Act an expression of His/Her Magical Formula. The Magus is a Master of Magick, who is to utter the Word of His/Her True Self. S/He is to create a new Universe in accordance with His/Her Will.
The Ipsissimus grade refers to Kether, the first and highest Sephira on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Its corresponding Yogic Chakra is Sahasrara, the Lotus of a thousand (and one) petals. Its corresponding Astrological Planet is Mercury, or alternatively Sol, and its Alchemical Metal is Mercury or Gold. This grade corresponds to the Yechidah (True Self) of the Qabalah. The Ipsissimus is obligated to recognize every phenomenon as God, that is, as his/her Soul. The Ipsissimus is "S/He who is most Him/Herself". The Ipsissimus is the Master of all Modes of Existence. S/He attains the ALL in ALL (PAN), but then withdraws Him/Herself at once within the veils of His/Her natural manifestation as a man or woman. The Ipsissimus must Keep Silence regarding the fact of His/Her attainment.
OF THE ORDER AND
THE SEVEN CHAKRAS
"Ours is the
Sevenfold Path of Initiation: thou shalt transmute the base
lead into the subtle Aurum Solis by rising on the Stairway of the Heavens
in thy Secret Laboratorium on earth. Here is the Excellent Way! The steps
of the Stairway are seven; the Laboratorium is Our Holy House of Song and
Our Holy Rose Garden, which thou knowest so well. Yet to those who are vulgar,
it is a secret even though they themselves possess it." (The Book of the Elder Kings)
The symbol of the Order is a Gold Cross of Elemental Equilibrium surmounted by a White Triangle of Supernal Light. (The White Triangle contains the All-Seeing Eye of the Spiritual Illuminati.) This sevenfold symbol represents the Great Work of the Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn. There are seven Grades of Initiation in the Order which correspond with the seven principal Chakras (Wheels) or Padmas (Lotuses) of Yoga. These Chakras (also called interior Stars), and the sevenfold symbol of the Order, denote seven Steps to Spiritual Illumination. The Cross represents the four Grades of Zelator, Adeptus Minor, Adeptus Major and Adeptus Exemptus; and the White Triangle represents the three grades above the Abyss, called Magister Templi, Magus and Ipsissimus. Moreover, the Cross represents the four elemental Chakras of Yoga, called Muladhara (Root), Swadhisthana (Navel), Manipura (Solar Plexus) and Anahata (Heart); and the Triangle represents the three higher Chakras, called Vishuddha (Throat), Ajna (Pineal) and Sahasrara (Crown). In Alchemical terminology, the Cross is the four Elements called Fire, Water, Air and Earth; and the Triangle is the three Principles of Trimaterialism called Sulphur, Salt and Mercury. The sevenfold symbol of the Order also signifies a Universal Principle called Sulphur, which denotes the Secret Fire of Alchemy. This Secret Fire, which is the Prima Materia (First Matter) of the Great Work, is the Alchemical AZOTH, the Great Magical Agent, and the Kundalini or Serpent Power of Yoga. It is the work of Order initiates to awaken the Kundalini, or the Secret Fire, to enter the Royal Way within, for the Chakras to blossom, or move into motion, that the Kundalini may unite with its Lord Above in the Crown Chakra, which is linked with the Qabalistic Sephira called Kether, the Crown of the Middle Pillar on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Such is the accomplishment of the Great Work of Spiritual Illumination.
In the system of the Order, the Muladhara (Root Support) pertains to the Grade of Zelator (Zealot), the Swadhisthana (One’s own Place) pertains to the Grade of Adeptus Major (Major Adept), the Manipura (Jewel City) pertains to the Grade of Adeptus Exemptus (Exempt Adept), the Anahata (Unstruck Sound) pertains to the Grade of Adeptus Minor (Minor Adept), the Visuddha or Vishuddhi (Purity) pertains to the Grade of Magister Templi (Master of the Temple), who is the Master of the Law of Sorrow (Dukkha) and of the Mystery of Joy (Ananda), the Ajna (Command Center) pertains to the Grade of Magus (Logosian Magician), who is the Master of the Law of Change (Anicca), and the Sahasrara (Thousandfold) pertains to the Grade of Ipsissimus (Utmost Self), who is the Master of the Law of Unsubstantiality (Anatta), which concerns the Mystery of Selflessness, called also the Mystery of Pan (Mystery of All). The Chakras ultimately represent the grades or stages of one's many incarnations to attain Enlightenment. One may experience many life times within a particular Chakra before advancing to the next Chakra. In most people the Kundalini is asleep, and not even the Muladhara Chakra is active from the spiritual point of view. It is true that everyone derives some measure of influence from the universal powers which the Chakras represent, especially those related to Muladhara, Swadhistthana and Manipura, but this has nothing to do with the actual spiritual awakening of the Kundalini through the Great Work of Initiation, which can take many life times to achieve. The process can be accelerated, however, and true Enlightenment can be experienced by the Initiate within a shorter time than most. The sevenfold system of the Order will assist the sincere Initiate in this Great Work to attain the Spiritual Crown of Illumination.
AND THEIR SYMBOLS
"Who calls us Thelemites will do no
wrong, if he look but close into the
word. For there are therein Three Grades, the Hermit, and the Lover, and
the man of Earth. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law." (AL I:40)
The Thelemic nature of the Order
system is threefold, that is, it has three
primary Grades of Initiation, called the Hermit, the Lover, and the Man of Earth.
The first Grade is called the Man of Earth (for men), Woman of Earth (for women), or WoMan of Earth (for both sexes). It concerns the mysteries of the First Order (G. D.) of the Neophyte, Zelator and Dominus Liminis. The First Order of the WoMan of Earth Triad teaches the Lesser Mysteries of Nature. Its corresponding Qabalistic Part of the Soul is the Nephesch (Animal Soul). Its corresponding Alchemical Principle is Salt. Its corresponding Yogic Guna is Tamas. The Magical Symbol of the WoMan of Earth grade is the Fivefold Star or Pentagram, which is a symbol of the five Elements and the Microcosm or Little Universe. The Pentagram is also linked with the four Elemental and Magical Powers of the Sphinx, and with a fifth Magical Power linked to Spirit. The four Elemental Powers of the Sphinx are “to Know, to Dare, to Will, and to Keep Silent.” In Latin these four Powers are called Velle for Will, Audere for Courage, Tacere for Silence, and Scire for Knowledge. The fifth Spiritual Power of the Sphinx is called Ire in the Latin tongue, and it is the power “to Go”. The Pentagram is a symbol of the Magical Power “to Go”, which is the function of a God, or the act of doing one’s True Will. The WoMan of Earth is ultimately an initiate of the Four Powers of the Sphinx, synthesizing these Four Powers into One, to attain the fifth Power of the Sphinx, called “to Go”.
The second Grade is called the Lover. It concerns the mysteries of the Second Order (R. C.) of the Adeptus Minor, Adeptus Major, and Adeptus Exemptus. The Second Order of the Lover Triad concentrates and expounds the Greater Mysteries of Nature. Its corresponding Qabalistic Part of the Soul is the Ruach (Mind, Reason, or Intellect). Its corresponding Alchemical Principle is Sulphur. Its corresponding Yogic Guna is Rajas. The Magical Symbol of the Lover grade is the Sixfold Star or Unicursal Hexagram, also called the Holy Hexagram, which is a symbol of the One Path of the Sun, and of the Macrocosm or Greater Universe. The Hexagram also indicates the Union of the Magical Opposites in Nature, and the Sacred Product of their Holy Union, which we call Lapis Philosophorum, the Stone of the Philosophers. The Hexagram is a perfect geometrical symbol of the Stone of the Philosophers, also called Lapis Mercurius, the Stone of Mercury. Ergo, it is a symbol of what we call the Mystery of Mysteries and the Secret of Secrets, which is also symbolized by Baphomet, and the Hermetic Androgyne or Hermaphrodite, who is the Mercury of the Sages.
The third Grade is called the Hermit. It concerns the mysteries of the Third Order (S. S.) of the Magister Templi, Magus, and Ipsissimus. The Third Order of the Hermit Triad is above and beyond the lesser and greater, the outer and inner: it is the Invisible Apex of the Triangle of Initiation. Its corresponding Qabalistic Part of the Soul is the Neschamah (Divine Soul, Intelligence, Intuition). Its corresponding Alchemical Principle is Mercury. Its corresponding Yogic Guna is Sattva. The Magical Symbol of the Hermit grade is the Sevenfold Star or Heptagram, which is the symbol of BABALON, and of those who have given their life’s blood to Her Service. It is sevenfold, indicating the Completion of the Great Work and the attainment of the Highest Form of Existence. It symbolizes the fulfillment of the Alchemical Formula of VITRIOL, which is a Notariqon for "Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem," which is Latin for "Visit the Interior of the Earth; by Rectification you will Discover the Secret Stone."

You do not need to fill out any form of an application or written agreement to use these documents for your "personal use" and initiation, and you do not need to contact any other member of the Order to receive permission to use them. This website is your dispensation from Frater A.·. A.·., the Founder of the Order, to initiate yourself. So you can do the work entirely on your own. To this end, all of the necessary documents are linked below. Your work in the Order begins when you take the Neophyte Oath and perform the Neophyte Ceremony of Self-Initiation. (Note: If you were personally initiated as a Neophyte by Frater A.·. A.·., or by a Hierophant chartered by him, then you may progress to the Zelator grade. If you were personally initiated as a Zelator by Frater A.·. A.·., or by a Hierophant chartered by him, then you may progress to the Dominus Liminis grade.) You should not perform the Self-Initiation Ceremony of the Neophyte unless you are prepared and willing to dedicate yourself to the Great Work of Thelema. To initiate yourself is to take complete responsibility for yourself, to dedicate yourself to the task of realizing all of your creative potentials as a human and spiritual being. Initiation is the first real step toward the accomplishment of the Great Work; it is the first rung on the ladder to the Palace of Wisdom. Without it there is no possibility for genuine Self-Realization. It is the beginning of the creative process of Individuation, of the Soul traveling inward and achieving integration or true Unity of Being. It is the Golden Dawn of the Soul, and the blossoming of the Inner Lotus of the Spirit.
The Neophyte should "endure" nine months or longer of Probation after the initiation before advancing to the next grade of the Zelator. The Zelator should wait twelve months or longer after the initiation before advancing to the next grade of the Dominus Liminis. The Dominus Liminis should wait twelve to twenty one months, or longer, after the initiation before taking the Oath of the Adeptus Minor. The Dominus Liminis is to compose his or her own Self-Initiation Ceremony for the Adeptus Minor grade after taking the Oath of the Adeptus Minor. It all begins with taking the Oath, which will awaken the necessary Spiritual Forces and initiate the process from within. It is a real Magical Oath, not to be taken lightly. "A real Magical Oath cannot be broken: you think it can, but it can't. This is the advantage of a real Magical Oath." (Aleister Crowley) The Ceremony for the Adeptus Minor grade can be an elaborately designed invocation of the Holy Guardian Angel and constructed in such manner that the initiate can perform it regularly for a period of six months, or longer if necessary. Those who are truly prepared to invoke their Holy Guardian Angel will be guided aright from within. "It is impossible to lay down precise rules by which a man may attain to the Knowledge and Conversation of his Holy Guardian Angel; for that is the particular secret of each one of us; a secret not to be told or even divined by any other, whatever his grade. It is the Holy of Holies, whereof each man is his own High Priest, and none knoweth the Name of his brother's God, or the Rite that invokes Him." (Aleister Crowley) Self-Initiation ceremonies are only available for the grades in the First Order. Beyond this, self-initiates must construct their own ceremonies of initiation for the Second Order. The Self-Initiation Ceremony of the Adeptus Major, designed by the founder of the Order in 1992 e.v. for his initiation into the Adeptus Major grade, can be used as a practical model upon which to construct the ceremonies. However, this and all else in this regard should only be done with true guidance, illumination and inspiration from your Holy Guardian Angel.
Membership in the Order is only to be found within the Soul of the Initiate upon initiation, and through the initiatory experience, not in any external organization or temple, certificate or title, and not by paying membership dues or initiation fees. There are no membership dues or initiation fees which Initiates of the Order have to contribute or pay to hold membership status in the Order. Membership in the Order cannot be purchased. There is no membership application to fill out to become a member of the Order. Any sincere aspirant to the Great Work, who is eighteen years of age or older and responsible for him or herself, can become a member of the Order. You start the work by taking the Neophyte Oath, conducting the Neophyte Self-Initiation Ceremony of the Order, and by practicing the related grade material. You can then continue the work on your own according to the necessary times of advancement given for the grades. Membership in the Order really begins with the Zelator initiation, whereas the Neophyte grade is one of probation and preparation. The Zelator initiation places one on the Tree of Initiation, and it is in this position that one becomes a member of the Aurora Aurea.
