It should now be quite evident to those of you who are traveling on the Path of Knowledge that we are in the process of experiencing the manifestations of a New Order on earth, which is rapidly making its way in the world, affecting and influencing the minds of men and women in innumerable ways, causing them to act and to respond with certain forms of behavior which are, to say the very least, different from those which were expressed in the past.

Those of us who are travelers on the Path of Knowledge must not only be vitally aware of the manifestations of the New Order, but we must actively work in freedom to diligently arrange and ordain our lives that we may adapt and attune ourselves to the Spirit of the New Order. Currently this principle cannot be applied by the majority of mankind who, out of ignorance, simply react unconsciously to the subtle manifestations of the New Order as it works its way into their minds and bodies.

The New Order is the source of a great revolution, which is collective and spiritual in kind, yet affecting each individual particle of energy in the mental and physical realms of Nature, causing all things to conform to itself. Yet in this we must not foolishly imagine that we are the slaves of an invisible force beyond our conscious comprehension, but rather must we realize our unity with this great force. For it is in this experience of unity that we are truly free to accomplish our True Will on earth in accordance with the Spirit of Life itself.

The New Order is a living Spirit that is rapidly growing from the Collective Unconscious. We are currently in a stage of purification, preparing ourselves for the dynamic influx of the New Order, when it shall work its way into the Collective Consciousness, enlightening all things with its essential nature. Purification is the elimination of the old and the initial process in the transformation of consciousness. It is a time of darkness, yet it is only by passing through this time of darkness that we may ultimately attain the Light.

In terms of the Philosophy of Thelema, the New Order is called the New Æon of Horus, which commenced on the Vernal Equinox of 1904 e.v., when the Egyptian God Horus took the Throne of His Father Osiris. An Æon is a period of 2,000 years. As Crowley pointed out, however, the first 500 years of an Æon constitute darkness and chaos on the earth. Such is a time of purification, when we are in the process of eliminating and transforming the old ways into the new to bring forth the New WoMan from the creative womb of darkness. Such is what I call the "Great Ordeal." This condition was much feared by the prophets of old, they being unaware of a most subtle formula of initiation. They narrowly fancied it to be a time of great catastrophe on earth. They were obviously unaware of the underlying spirit in such splendid visions of horror. The Great Ordeal of the New Æon is absolutely necessary to the advancement of the human race; it is an essential rung on the Ladder of Evolution.

The T.·. G.·. D.·. (New Order of the Golden Dawn) is but another name and symbol for the New Order, composed of free men and women who actively investigate and seek to intelligently understand and experience the subtle ways of the New Order in their individual lives, that they may become living and dynamic manifestations of the same, fulfilling their True Will in harmony with the Great Movement of Things.

Freedom is the spirit and essence of the New Order. Thus the more freedom you have, the more you will find yourself attuned to the New Order, working in harmony with its nature and purpose. Yet must you also understand the nature of this freedom, which is the flower of self-awareness and the product of self-control. It is not the freedom of the common man; rather is it the Freedom of the Wise, which is the Freedom of the Spirit of Life itself.

Inscribe this deep in your hearts, my dear brothers and sisters of the earth, in vast letters of eternal fire: FREEDOM IS THE POWER TO DETERMINE YOUR OWN PATH IN LIFE. It is the first and final key to the accomplishment of your own True Will. Without this freedom, there is no true order with the self or Universe, and all is but chaos and confusion. And know, my dear brothers and sisters, that freedom is the alpha and omega of the Spirit of the New Order, of which we are all made participants that we may ultimately help in the birth of a New Humanity.

Love is the law, love under will.
